Search for Public Administration Faculty Position in Public Budgeting & Finance Division of Public Administration, Mark O. Hatfield School of Government

Portland State University

The Division of Public Administration in the Mark O. Hatfield School of Government at Portland State University seeks to fill a new nine-month tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for the Fall of 2016. This position seeks candidates whose core expertise is in public budgeting and finance, with the capacity to teach traditional public administration core courses and specialization courses in local government, environment and natural resources, global leadership and management, nonprofit management, health management and policy, and human resource management.  Priority will be given to candidates who are highly qualified to teach courses in research design and analytic methods.

Dr. Beverly A. Cigler, Distinguished Professor of Public Policy and Administration, Penn State Harrisburg, and NAPA Fellow, is the recipient of the 2015 Leslie A. Whittington Award for Teaching Excellence, given by NASPAA, the membership organization of graduate education programs in public policy, public affairs, public administration, and public & nonprofit management. NASPAA's nearly 300 members are located across the U.S. and in 14 countries around the globe.

Upcoming Conference: The Next Generation of Public Finance

The Andrew Young School of Policy Studies invites you to submit paper proposals for our spring conference "The Next Generation of Public Finance." This conference will be held May 5-6, 2016, at Georgia State University. The focus of the conference is on topics that will be front center in the policy debate in the coming decades on the national and subnational levels. Practitioners as well as academics are encouraged to submit proposals. Please email all proposals by February 1, 2016 to Amber Slyter at aslyter1@gsu.edu. Please direct questions to Sally Wallace at swallace@gsu.edu. Proposals will be reviewed and competitively selected.

John R. Phillips is spending the 2015-16 academic year as Visiting Professor of Public Administration at the University of Illinois--Springfield. He had retired from Benedictine University at Springfield in May 2015 after 45 years of teaching, 22 of those years in Springfield.

Bartley Hildreth, Professor, in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University also serves as (part-time) Executive Director of the National Tax Association – Tax Institute of America. Founded in 1907, NTA is the leading association of tax professionals and tax economists dedicated to advancing understanding of the theory and practice of public finance. NTA has a two-person office in D.C. and is the publisher of the National Tax Journal.
